SHAFAQNA-
Abu’l-Qasim ibn `Al’ al-Hamadaniy, the representative of Imam al-Hasan al-`Askariy (a.s), received a document telling that our master, Grandson of the Holy Prophet (saws),Imam al-Husayn ibn `Ali (a.s), was born on the third of Sha`ban; therefore, you should observe fasting on this day and recite the following supplication:

After that, you may recite the Du`a’ al-Husayn, which is the last supplication uttered by Imam al-Husayn (a.s) when his enemies surrounded him in large numbers on the Day of `Ashura (the tenth of Muharram, AH 61):
اللّهُمَّ أَنْتَ مُتَعَالي الْمَكَانِ، | O Allah: You are verily the Elevated in position, | |
عَظِيمُ الْجَبَرُوتِ، | the Magnificent in omnipotence, | |
شَدِيدُ الْمِحَالِ، | the Mighty in prowess, | |
غَنِيٌّ عَنِ الْخَلائِقِ، | the Self-Sufficient from the creatures, | |
عَرِيضُ الْكِبْرِيَاءِ، | the Ample in pride, | |
قَادِرٌ عَلَى مَا تَشَاءُ، | the Powerful over all that which You want, | |
قَرِيبُ الرَّحْمَةِ، | the Close in mercy, | |
صَادِقُ الْوَعْدِ، | the Truthful in promise, | |
سَابِغُ النِّعْمَةِ، | the Opulent in favors, | |
حَسَنُ الْبَلاءِ، | the Sympathetic in ordeals, | |
قَرِيبٌ إذَا دُعِيتَ، | the Nigh when Your are prayed, | |
مُحِيطٌ بِمَا خَلَقْتَ، | the All-encompassing of all that which You have created, | |
قَابِلُ التَّوْبَةِ لِمَنْ تَابَ إلَيْكَ، | the Accepter of the repentance of him who repents to You, | |
قَادِرٌ عَلَى مَا أَرَدْتَ، | the Powerful to do whatever You want, | |
وَمُدْرِكٌ مَا طَلَبْتَ، | the Taker in all that which You decide, | |
وَشَكُورٌ إذَا شُكِرْتَ، | the Thankful for those who thank You, | |
وَذَكُورٌ إذَا ذُكِرْتَ، | the Rememberer of those who mention You. | |
أَدْعُوكَ مُحْتَاجاً، | I pray You for I need You; | |
وَأَرْغَبُ إلَيْكَ فَقِيراً، | and I desire for You for I am in want of You; | |
وَأَفْزَعُ إلَيْكَ خَائِفاً، | and I resort to You for I am terrified; | |
وَأَبْكِي إلَيْكَ مَكْرُوباً، | and I weep before You for I am distressed; | |
وَأَسْتَعِينُ بِكَ ضَعِيفاً، | and I seek Your aid for I am weak; | |
وَأَتَوَكَّلُ عَلَيْكَ كَافِياً، | and I depend upon You for I trust in none save You; | |
احْكُمْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ قَوْمِنَا بِالْحَقِّ، | (please do) decide between our people and us with the truth, | |
فَإنَّهُمْ غَرُّونَا وَخَدَعُونَا | for they have deceived us, cheated us, | |
وَخَذَلُونَا وَغَدَرُوَا بِنَا وَقَتَلُونَا، | disappointed us, betrayed us, and killed us. | |
وَنَحْنُ عِتْرَةُ نَبِيِّكَ | We are verily the progeny of Your Prophet, | |
وَوَلَدُ حَبِيبِكَ | and the sons of Your beloved one, | |
مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِاللّهِ | namely Muhammad ibn `Abdull¡h, | |
الَّذِي اصْطَفَيْتَهُ بِالرِّسَالَةِ | whom You have chosen for the Divine Mission | |
وَائْتَمَنْتَهُ عَلَى وَحْيِكَ، | and for keeping Your Revelation. | |
فَاجْعَلْ لَنَا مِنْ أَمْرِنَا فَرَجاً وَمَخْرَجاً | So, (please so) prepare a way out and a relief for us, | |
بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ. | out of Your mercy; O the most Merciful of all those who show mercy. |
