Shafaqna English- Vietnam is seeking to expand its Halal-Certified exports to Indonesia, tapping into the growing demand in Southeast Asia’s largest Muslim-majority market. A seminar in Ho Chi Minh City, jointly organized by the Investment and Trade Promotion Centre (ITPC) and the Indonesian Consulate General, highlighted the opportunities and challenges ahead, according to Vietnam Plus.
ITPC Director Tran Phu Lu emphasized that Vietnamese businesses must adapt to meet Indonesia’s strict Halal standards. Indonesian Consul General Agustaviano Sofjan noted that the upgraded comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations opens new avenues for cooperation, particularly in Halal trade. Experts encouraged stronger collaboration in certification, investment, and participation in Halal-focused trade fairs to deepen market access.
Vietnam–Indonesia trade reached USD 4.2 billion in Q1 2025, a 17% rise year-on-year, with Vietnam’s major exports including coffee, plastics, steel, and textiles. As the global Halal market is projected to hit $10 trillion by 2030, Vietnam is positioning itself to capitalize on this lucrative sector.
