Shafaqna English– In a conversation with Shafaqna, the seminary scholar Professor Mohsen Gharavian emphasized that the sorrow and grief associated with Imam Hussain’s (AS) martyrdom should not be limited to emotional reactions alone; rather, they represent a symbolic “sacrifice of humanity” and “sacrifice of truth.”
Hujjatol-Islam Gharavian stated: “Imam Hussain (AS) represents a coherent school of thought. His life, his struggles, and especially the tragedy of Ashura encompass elements that constitute a whole ideological system.”
He further explained that the events of Ashura are multidimensional—encompassing ethical, political, social, theological, and philosophical aspects. These foundational, character-building elements of Imam Hussain’s (AS) movement can serve as guiding principles in both our personal and communal lives. By drawing on these dimensions, we can benefit in our personal development, political engagement, and educational and moral upbringing.
