Custodians of Shia Holy Sites to Gather in Karbala

The second gathering of custodians of holy sites from different parts of the Muslim world is planned to be held in April in the holy city of Karbala, Iraq.

According to the website of the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein’s (AS) holy shrine, a meeting of the custodians’ representatives from Iran, Iraq and Syria will be organized on February 1 to discuss the organization and themes of the gathering.

Afdhal Al-Shami, deputy of the holy shrine’s custodian said that the gathering will be a good opportunity to promote cooperation in order to develop and deepen cultural, scientific, and educational activities and better serve pilgrims.

The first gathering of the custodians of the Muslim world holy shrines was held with the participation of Iraqi, Syrian and Iranian representatives on the birthday anniversary of Imam Reza (AS) in August in the holy city of Mashhad.
