Shafaqna English- Najaf International Airport announced on Monday (11 Aug 2025) that more than 127,000 passengers have arrived in the province since the beginning of the Islamic month of Safar to take part in the Arbaeen commemoration of Imam Hussain (AS).
According to Shafaqna, Ammar Al-Tufayli, Media Director of Najaf International Airport, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The airport continues to receive Arbaeen pilgrims. According to the latest statistics, since the start of Safar, there have been 863 inbound and outbound flights, with 127,478 arriving pilgrims and 91,396 departing pilgrims.”
Al-Tufayli added that on Sunday alone, the airport handled 122 flights, reflecting the large volume of both flights and passengers. He stressed that airport operations are proceeding smoothly and without disruption.
“We have had no flight delays or restrictions on passenger entry,” he noted, adding that multiple services are provided to pilgrims, including free bus transportation from the entrance gate to the departure hall and from the arrival hall to the exit gate.
