Shafaqna English- Vietnam is stepping up efforts to capture a larger slice of the fast-growing global Halal market, currently worth over $7 trillion and projected to hit US$10 trillion by 2030, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, citing SGGP English Edition.
At an international seminar on Halal export opportunities, officials and industry experts highlighted Vietnam’s competitive strengths in seafood, rice, coffee and processed foods, which are increasingly gaining ground in key markets such as Indonesia, Malaysia, the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
Halal-Certification described by experts as a “golden passport” to over 2.2 billion Muslim consumers — remains crucial for wider market access. Vietnamese enterprises have invested in modernizing production, aligning with international standards, and enhancing transparency to meet strict certification requirements.
Trade potential is particularly strong in Indonesia, the largest Halal market in Southeast Asia, and in the Middle East, where Saudi Arabia alone imports up to 95% of its food needs. Experts stressed that Vietnam must continue to invest in technology, pursue reputable Halal-Certification, and build sustainable, brand-driven strategies to fully leverage this “golden opportunity.”
