Shafaqna English- The administration of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain (AS) has firmly denied claims circulating on social media about the discovery of weapons allegedly linked to the Battle of Karbala (Ma’rakat-al-Taff) during excavation works near the shrine.
According to Shafaqna, Iraq’s National News Agency reported that Hussein Reza Mahdi, Head of the Development Projects Department at the Holy Hussaini Shrine, stated: “As supervisors of the ongoing excavation works near the shrine of Imam Hussain (AS) which are being conducted to expand the pilgrimage area; we categorically reject the recent claims regarding the discovery of weapons and arrows said to be from the Battle of Karbala.”
He added that the current excavation depth has reached seven meters and not twelve meters, as some have claimed. He also clarified that the soil composition shown in the circulated video differs from that of the soil currently being excavated inside the courtyard of Imam Hussain’s (AS) shrine.
