Shafaqna Pakistan- It is with deep sadness that we report the passing of Maulana Malik Zafar Abbas, a distinguished Scholar and respected Community Leader, who passed away yesterday in Pakistan.
Maulana Zafar Abbas devoted his life to the service of the Shia Muslim community across Pakistan, Africa, and Europe. He was among the founding members of Majlis Ulama-e-Shia Europe and served as its President for seventeen years, guiding the organization through a period of growth and unity.
Throughout his decades of service, Maulana Zafar Abbas worked tirelessly to promote religious education, community welfare, and youth engagement. He established and supported several Islamic centers and educational programs in the UK and Europe, and launched Al-Majlis magazine to spread knowledge and awareness among the younger generation.
He previously served as a Resident Scholar in Pakistan, Kenya, Birmingham, and London, and was actively involved with Al-Khoei Islamic Centre (Stanmore) and Al-Qaim Madrasah. Even after retiring from formal roles, he continued teaching from his home, nurturing students who have since become respected scholars and preachers.
His passing has left a deep void within the global Shia community. Tributes have poured in from scholars, students, and community members who remember him as a man of deep faith, wisdom, and humility.
