Shafaqna English- A new Oxford University Press (OUP) report reveals growing concern among UK pupils that artificial intelligence is eroding their study skills and creativity, according to the Guardian.
According to the study, 80% of students aged 13–18 regularly use AI for schoolwork, but 62% believe it has negatively affected their learning. One in four said AI “makes it too easy to find answers without doing the work,” while 12% felt it limited their creative thinking.
Researchers found that students are increasingly aware of both the benefits and risks of AI. Nearly half worry their classmates use AI secretly, and many want more guidance from teachers on using it responsibly.
Experts say the findings highlight a need for clearer AI education policies. As one headteacher noted, “Many pupils see AI’s value—but too often, they use it as a shortcut rather than a learning tool.”
