Shafaqna English- New Zealand has committed to boosting Halal meat exports to Malaysia following the exchange of enhanced Halal Implementation Arrangement (HIA) notes, reinforcing bilateral trade and regulatory cooperation in the growing Halal sector, according to the Vibes.
New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon said the country would ensure reliable supply chains, transparent regulations and quicker issue resolution to strengthen confidence in halal product flows. The updated arrangement will streamline guidelines for registration, processing, labelling and storage, while supporting data-driven logistics and faster customs clearance for compliant operators.
Malaysia’s Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi welcomed the collaboration and New Zealand’s readiness to join the upcoming ASEAN Halal Council, noting the region’s role as a major halal market. The two nations aim to expand halal trade as part of their goal to increase overall bilateral trade by 50% by 2030.
