Scotland: Police investigate hate crime after Glasgow Mosque’s graffiti

Shafaqna English- Police in Glasgow are investigating a hate crime after graffiti was daubed on a Mosque.

The words “Scots First” were discovered sprayed on the exterior wall of Glasgow Central Mosque on Adelphi Street. Officers believe the vandalism happened between 5 p.m. on Sunday (26 Oct 2025) and 9 a.m. on Monday.

Police Scotland said the act was “unacceptable” and confirmed that an investigation is underway. Chief Inspector Paul Daley said the incident was deeply upsetting for both residents and the Muslim community, adding that officers were taking the matter “very seriously.”

He urged anyone with information to contact police on 101, quoting reference 1222 of October 27, 2025, or to reach Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

The management of Glasgow Central Mosque said they were “deeply upset” by the discovery but reaffirmed their commitment to the city and its people.
