Shafaqna English- South Korea has exported its premium Hanwoo beef to the United Arab Emirates for the first time, marking a major step into the $1.9 billion Halal market, according to Donga.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs said on Wednesday (29 Oct 2025) that 1.5 tons of chilled and frozen Hanwoo beef were shipped through Incheon Airport to the UAE. The milestone raises the number of countries importing Hanwoo to five — including Hong Kong, Malaysia, Cambodia, Laos, and now the UAE.
Officials said the move could accelerate Hanwoo’s expansion into the global Halal sector, which covers about 20% of the world food industry. Rising demand for premium beef such as Japanese wagyu in the Middle East signals strong growth potential for Korean producers.
Vice Minister Kang Hyung-seok said the UAE’s shipment marks “a significant step” toward reaching 1.9 billion Halal consumers. The ministry plans further promotions and quarantine talks to expand exports and strengthen Hanwoo’s global brand presence.
