World Bank supports Iraqi pollution projects

Shafaqna English- Iraqi Ministry of Planning said that the management of hotspot pollution projects is receiving sponsorship and support from the World Bank.

The Ministry’s Spokesperson, Al-Hindawi stated “the World Bank supports this type of project, which aims to eliminate hazardous chemicals and build national capacities for establishing an information system for chemical management.”

He added “the World Bank’s support also includes work on developing relevant policies and regulations, as well as preparing maps to identify areas or hotspots that constitute major sources of pollution, to address and eliminate these pollutants according to well-studied scientific mechanisms and standards.”
