Shafaqna English- The official committee investigating the disappearance of Imam Musa Al-Sadr and his two companions confirmed that the Libyan delegation currently visiting Lebanon has handed over a copy of the investigation documents related to the case.
According to Shafaqna, citing RT Arabic, the committee said in a statement: “The official Libyan delegation to Lebanon, representing the Libyan government and judiciary, met with Judge Hassan Al-Shami, Rapporteur of the official Lebanese committee following the case, and Judge Zahir Hammadeh, the Investigating Judge handling the file.”
The statement added that “the representative of Libya’s Public Prosecutor handed over a set of documents said to comprise the findings of Libya’s investigation into the disappearance of Imam Musa Al-Sadr and his companions.”
The committee noted that the documents “will be studied and assessed to determine the appropriate course of action.” An agreement was also reached to establish a communication and cooperation channel to activate the memorandum of understanding between the two countries regarding the case, aimed at completing investigations and sharing proposals and information.
The committee highlighted that the Libyan side has acknowledged in the memorandum’s preamble that the former Gaddafi regime was responsible for the abduction of Imam Musa Al-Sadr and his two companions in Libya.
A separate protocol was also signed to establish a direct and rapid communication link between the Libyan Attorney General’s Office and the Lebanese official follow-up committee.
Meanwhile, a Libyan government delegation arrived in Beirut on Monday (03 Nov 2025) to discuss the case of Hannibal Gaddafi, son of the late Libyan leader, who has been detained in Lebanon since 2015.
According to a source from Libya’s Government of National Unity, the visit is part of official diplomatic efforts led by the Ministry of Justice to discuss the legal procedures for posting the $11 million bail** required for Gaddafi’s release and to address his deteriorating health condition.
The delegation is expected to meet with Lebanese officials from the ministries of justice and foreign affairs, as well as members of the judiciary, to explore possible legal solutions. The source emphasized that Libya is approaching the issue “from a purely humanitarian and legal perspective.”
This development comes just weeks after Tripoli blamed Lebanese authorities for Hannibal Gaddafi’s worsening health.
