Shafaqna English- The flag atop the dome of the Imam Reza (AS) Holy Shrine in Mashhad has been replaced with a black one to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Lady Fatimah (SA).
In a solemn ceremony held on Monday (03 Nov 2025), the green flag on the gilded dome of the Imam Reza (AS) Shrine was replaced with a black one in mourning. The event took place in the presence of shrine custodians, servants, pilgrims, and residents, who gathered to honor Lady Fatimah (SA), regarded in Islam as a paragon of piety, compassion, and resistance to injustice.
During the ceremony, the black covering over the shrine’s sacred enclosure (Dharih) was also renewed, marking the beginning of the days of mourning at the holy site.
