UNICEF: One in five children in Afghanistan forced to work

Shafaqna English- The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has reported that one in five children in Afghanistan is involved in child labor.

UNICEF and the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs have both reaffirmed their commitment to protecting children in the country.

Omidurrahman Fazel, UNICEF’s Spokesperson in Afghanistan stated: “Regardless of the reason, UNICEF is committed to ending all forms of child labor in any shape or form. Therefore, UNICEF emphasizes family-based solutions to this issue.”

However, some working children have called on Taliban to provide educational opportunities and better living conditions.
