Shafaqna English- As temperatures drop and winter approaches, rising fuel prices have sparked concern among many low-income families in Kabul struggling to Stay Warm.
Several citizens in Kabul say that due to the lack of consistent electricity and heating appliances, they are forced to purchase firewood or coal. However, the high cost of these materials is beyond their financial capacity.
Hafiz, a Kabul resident, said: “Firewood has become very expensive. The price of one kharwar (approximately 560 kg) of wood ranges between 10,800 and 11,000 Afghanis. Due to the cold weather and lack of electricity or other means, people have no choice but to buy it.”
