Afghan girls call for reopening of schools

Shafaqna English- On World Science Day, many Afghan schoolgirls and female university students once again called for the reopening of schools and universities to girls.

November 10 is recognized globally as World Science Day for Peace and Development, a day to honor the role of science in improving human life, promoting peace, and achieving sustainable development. These students urged the Taliban to take their demands seriously.

Shabnam, a schoolgirl, said: “My request to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is to allow girls to study and progress. If women are educated, society becomes enlightened.”

Marhaba, another student, told TOLOnews: “When schools closed, I turned to studying at home. I tried to write things down so I wouldn’t forget my lessons.”
