Shafaqna English- Groundbreaking study suggests that COVID-19 mRNA vaccines can dramatically improve survival rates for patients with advanced lung and skin cancer.
Researchers discovered that cancer patients who received an mRNA vaccine shortly before or after starting immunotherapy lived significantly longer than their unvaccinated peers.
The analysis of over 1,000 patient records revealed a near-doubling of median survival for lung cancer patients. Scientists believe the vaccine works by “priming” the immune system in a broad, non-specific way, enhancing the power of subsequent immunotherapy to fight tumors.
While the findings are observational and require confirmation through a formal clinical trial, researchers are calling the potential implications “extraordinary.” This discovery could pave the way for developing a universal, off-the-shelf cancer vaccine that works alongside existing treatments to extend patients’ lives.
