UK’s government official: Israeli policies left Gazans in severe hunger & homelessness

Shafaqna English- UK’s Secretary of State for International Development on Thursday (20 Nov 2025) warned in strong terms that restrictions imposed by Israel on the entry of humanitarian aid have left thousands of Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip in a state of severe hunger and homelessness, especially with winter approaching.

A British official stated that these restrictions are unjustifiable and clearly violate international humanitarian law. He urged Israel to allow the immediate, unhindered entry of food aid, medicine, tents, and other relief supplies to save the lives of civilians, particularly children, women, and the sick.

This position arises as international organizations have consistently accused Israel of obstructing or deliberately delaying the entry of aid-laden trucks, actions that have worsened the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

The remarks made by the British development minister reflect a rising wave of criticism from the West regarding Israel’s policies in Gaza. Previously, London had suspended a portion of its arms exports to Israel and has continuously urged for the complete opening of border crossings, as well as a substantial increase in aid.

Relief organizations report that over 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza are experiencing severe shortages of food, drinking water, and medicine. Any further delay in aid entry could result in an even greater humanitarian disaster.
