Humankind is driven by desires and whims. When unchecked, this can supersede significantly more essential aspects of life. As such, there is nothing more important than religion and our adherence to the path that brings us closer to our Creator.
Unfortunately, we either allow our desires and whims to make us completely negligent of our religious duties or we make our religion conform to the fulfillment of our desires. For the latter, it is often easy to find a justification to do so through the distortion of religious edicts and tenets. This week we will explore how the Quran describes this phenomenon, and we will consider how we might be molding our religion to the conveniences of life.
