Shafaqna English- Iraq’s representative to the United Nations warned during UN’s Security Council meeting on Iraq that the continuation of the current situation in the Al-Hol Camp poses a threat to international security.
Al-Faili, Iraqi Representative to the United Nations expressed gratitude to the UNAMI mission for its support to Iraq over the past two decades during the Security Council meeting on Iraq.
According to Iraq’s official news agency (INA), Al-Faili added that the end of UNAMI’s mission in Iraq marks the beginning of a renewed partnership with the United Nations.
He stated that Iraq has fulfilled its international commitments, particularly with Kuwait. The Iraqi official said that Iraq is dealing with the issue of its citizens in the Al-Hol camp in a responsible and humanitarian manner.
Al-Faili emphasized that the continuation of the current situation in the Al-Hol camp threatens international security. “We once again call on countries to repatriate their citizens from the Al-Hol camp,” he said. He noted that Iraq is now focused on protecting the interests of its people and that the country is witnessing political and security stability.
