Shafaqna English- Iraq ranked first among Arab countries in barley production for the 2024–2025 season, according to data released by the United States Department of Agriculture.
The country maintained its position as the region’s leading producer of this strategic crop, which plays a vital role in food security.
The data shows that Iraq produced 1.4 million tons of barley, placing it clearly ahead of its regional peers. Algeria and Syria followed in second place, each recording an estimated 1.2 million tons.
Morocco produced 660 thousand tons, while Tunisia recorded 272 thousand tons, highlighting their continued contribution to local and regional grain markets.
