God (SWT) says in the Holy Quran that He took us out of our mother’s wombs not knowing anything. As such, He bestowed upon us faculties so we may learn, grow and better ourselves – all for the purpose of thanking Him. These faculties are a great source of potential and they can be used as a powerful tool for self-improvement.
However, they can also be misused or used in a manner that they are not actually supporting the betterment of our nafs or self. Hence, the Holy Quran describes the disbelievers as being deaf, dumb and blind, and reminds us to be wary of such deficiencies.
