Shafaqna English- The first European commercial flight landed at Baghdad International Airport after 35-year suspension.
In a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the Ministry of Transport said the flight represents the culmination of sustained efforts led by Transport Minister Al-Saadawi to upgrade operational, technical and security requirements at Iraqi airports in line with international and European aviation standards.
The flight was operated by Aegean Airlines, Greece’s national carrier, becoming the first European airline to resume direct service to Baghdad in over three decades. The route will operate on a regular schedule between Baghdad and Athens with two flights per week and the possibility of expansion based on demand and seat occupancy rates.
