Shafaqna English- The International Quds Foundation has condemned the ongoing closure of the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Occupied Jerusalem, which has been in effect since February 28, 2026.
The foundation describes this action as a blatant violation of religious freedom and an attempt to impose a new reality that threatens the city’s religious diversity. In a statement, the foundation noted that Israeli authorities continue to prevent Christians from conducting their religious rites inside the church, especially during the Easter season.
They cite “public safety” concerns amid ongoing military escalation in the region. The foundation emphasized that denying Christians access to their churches, particularly the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, is a serious offense.
This situation adds to the restrictive policies imposed on the Al- Aqsa Mosque. Furthermore, the foundation argues that these measures reflect a systematic approach aimed at marginalizing non-Jewish presence in Occupied Jerusalem.
