O withered moon

SHAFAQNA –

o withered moon
when you announce the month
of rajab
pour fourth your mercy
like honey
and let me taste it on my tongue o withered moon
with my eyes shut
closed
and my heart
still and at peace

let even your loneliness
for such a blessed month
draw you quickly
to its arrival
and every eager heart
delight in the coming
of this year’s golden harvest.
