China’s self-sufficiency in urea production

Shafaqna English– China produces most of its urea domestically and relies on coal for roughly 78% of its output, unlike major exporters such as Qatar, Russia, and Saudi Arabia that depend mainly on natural gas. This marks a key difference between China and those gas-based producers.

This has protected China’s coal-based urea sector from the war in Iran and the price shocks spreading across global fertilizer markets.
