Shafaqna English- In the history of human civilization and the survival of the world, if any figure has played the most vital role, it is the “woman.” A woman is not merely an individual identity; she is a symbol of the upbringing of generations, the nurturing of civilizations, and spiritual training. Islam has granted women a status that was unimaginable in ignorant societies.
In today’s modern era, where women are often treated merely as physical objects and turned into a means of commercial display, Islam has described her as the “embrace of survival.” It has not only honored her but also declared her the foundation of family, society, and nation.
Woman and Islam
Islam is the first religion that saved women from being buried alive, granted them the right of inheritance, the right to education, and elevated them to a dignified and respected position in society as mothers, daughters, sisters, and wives.
The Qur’an states:
“And We have enjoined upon man kindness to his parents. His mother carried him with hardship upon hardship, and his weaning is in two years…” (Luqman: 14)
This verse clearly shows that a mother’s lap is, in reality, the very cradle of human survival. The mother’s lap is the first school where the training of generations begins.
Woman — the guarantee of survival
Islamic history is filled with examples of great women such as Hazrat Khadija (SA), Hazrat Fatima Zahra (SA), and Hazrat Zainab (SA), who made immense sacrifices for the protection of faith and the survival of society.
Hazrat Zainab (SA), even after being taken captive following Karbala, stood before Yazid’s court with remarkable wisdom and courage, proclaiming the truth. This proves that when a woman chooses, she can not only become a guarantor of survival but can also change the course of history.
What secures a woman’s survival?
A woman’s survival lies in her dignity, character, intellectual freedom, and refuge within religion.
In other words, the protection, honor, and status granted to women by Islam form the true basis of their survival. Within the framework of religion, a woman as a mother, daughter, sister, and wife not only attains respect but also gains the strength to nurture generations and play a positive role in society.
Moral character and intellectual dignity are the strongest shields for a woman. If her character is pure and she is equipped with knowledge and awareness, no social corruption or cultural invasion can diminish her status.
Social respect and recognition are also essential for her survival. In a society where women are respected, their opinions are valued, and they are given rights in life decisions, they remain safe, dignified, and influential.
Her maternal and nurturing role is also a means of survival, because the intellectual survival of generations is linked to a woman’s lap.
A woman’s survival is only possible when she recognizes her identity within the boundaries of religion, knowledge, character, and dignity, and when society grants her the status that Islam has given her.
Woman and the demands of the modern era
In today’s world, while the West promotes so-called “freedom of women” but undermines their sanctity and dignity, we once again need the woman nurtured in the lap of religion—one who not only raises her generation intellectually but also stands as an ideological barrier against social decay.
Islam does not restrict women; rather, it opens doors of honor, education, character, intellectual awareness, and purposeful living. An educated and conscious woman can eliminate corruption and ensure societal survival.
Today’s need is to raise women within the teachings of religion so they can reach a status where not only their own personality is refined, but the entire nation gains moral and intellectual stability. The need is to restore the dignity of women according to Islamic teachings and to place them in their rightful position in social development and progress.
