Shafaqna English– Disaster officials said the death toll from a powerful 7.8-magnitude earthquake off the southern Philippine island of Mindanao on Monday(8 Jun 2026) has climbed to at least 32, with dozens injured, as Manila ramped up search and rescue efforts.
The earthquake, which activated tsunami alerts in several nations, occurred early in the morning roughly 20 km off Sarangani province. Its shaking was strongly felt across Mindanao and also in Manado, on Indonesia’s Sulawesi island, located 420 km away.
