Shafaqna English– On Monday(8 Jun 2026), a federal judge invalidated the $100,000 fee that U.S. President Donald Trump had introduced for new H-1B visas intended for highly skilled foreign workers, ruling that it was an illegal tax not approved by Congress.
The ruling was issued by U.S. District Judge Leo Sorokin in Boston in response to a lawsuit filed by 20 Democratic state attorneys general. They had challenged a fee that Trump announced in September, which dramatically increased the cost of obtaining H-1B visas—visas that tech companies especially depend on to hire foreign workers.
