Shafaqna English– The effort by global airlines to attract high-end travelers is turning fast in-flight Wi-Fi into a progressively essential benefit, transforming what was once an unreliable paid service into a new competitive arena between Elon Musk’s Starlink and Jeff Bezos’ Amazon Leo satellite network.
Data from Valour Consultancy, an aviation intelligence firm, shows that Starlink — responsible for nearly two-thirds of all active satellites in space and the biggest source of revenue for SpaceX — has onboarded 11 new airline customers around the globe so far in 2026, compared to 22 in 2025, eight in 2024, and three in 2022.
Still in the process of building out its Leo satellite constellation, Amazon may encounter a hurdle after last month’s Blue Origin rocket failure. The company has landed its initial customers, striking agreements with Delta Air Lines and JetBlue Airways.
