Islamic sciences specialized center inaugurates in Najaf

SHAFAQNA – A specialized center for Quran and Hadith sciences was launched in a ceremony in the holy city of Najaf, Iraq.

A number of Quran experts and representatives of Iraqi sources of emulation attended the event.Established by the Dar-ol-Quran Center of the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein’s (AS) holy shrine, the center aims to develop academic and seminary aspects of Quranic activities in the city and the region.

The opening ceremony was addressed by Hojat-ol-Islam Ali Shuweili, director of the specialized center, who introduced the programs of the center and the courses it will offer.

Also speaking was Hojat-ol-Islam Hassan Al-Mansouri, director of the Dar-ol-Quran, who stressed the importance of collaborations between the center and academic institutes.

With the inauguration of the center, 27 seminary students from different countries started taking the first series offered by the center, which will take two years to complete.

Quranic activities have significantly developed in Iraq since the 2003 overthrow of former dictator Saddam Hussein.
