Shafaqna English- AI cloud company Firebird has launched what it describes as the largest AI factory in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in Armenia, marking a major expansion of AI computing infrastructure aimed at supporting research, startups, businesses and public institutions, according to the Nvidia.
The facility, developed with NVIDIA, Dell Technologies and CoreWeave, was inaugurated in Armenia in the presence of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister Zhaslan Madiyev and U.S. Chargé d’Affaires David Allen.
The AI factory is designed to provide the computing capacity needed to train, fine-tune and deploy AI models for local languages, industries and national priorities. Firebird plans to deploy more than 70,000 NVIDIA Rubin and Blackwell GPUs and 300 megawatts of AI infrastructure capacity in Armenia by the end of 2027.
Built on NVIDIA’s DSX platform and using Dell PowerEdge servers, the facility integrates computing, networking, power and cooling into a coordinated infrastructure system. Firebird says the design can support up to 40% more GPUs within the same physical footprint, improving computing efficiency and the value generated from available power capacity.
The Armenia facility is part of Firebird’s broader plan to develop approximately 2 gigawatts of AI infrastructure across Armenia, Kazakhstan and other markets. NVIDIA also plans to invest in Firebird, following an investment by CoreWeave earlier this year, supporting the company’s expansion across emerging AI markets.
The project was delivered in just over six months. Schneider Electric supplied key power infrastructure, while Vertiv provided the facility’s cooling architecture, including chilled-water technology and advanced thermal-management systems.
Early demand is coming from AI-native companies including Perplexity, which is working with Firebird to access high-performance computing infrastructure for its AI agent platform and answer engine.
Firebird says the new facility could strengthen Armenia’s position as a regional centre for AI research and advanced computing while attracting international AI companies and giving local developers, universities, enterprises and public institutions access to large-scale computing capacity.
