Shafaqna English– Amid ongoing civil conflict, millions of children in Sudan still cannot access education. To tackle this urgent issue, the UN’s global education fund announced a $22 million plan on Monday aimed at helping 200,000 children resume learning.
The initiative targets three Sudanese regions—West Darfur, South Kordofan, and Gedaref—to restore “safe, quality, and inclusive education” amid the world’s largest humanitarian and displacement crisis.
Maysa Jalbout, director of Education Cannot Wait, highlighted that education remains a vital tool in humanitarian efforts to protect children and foster recovery.
“This funding goes beyond re-opening classrooms. It supports children in feeling safe and normal, while also strengthening education systems to serve communities during crises and recovery efforts,” she said.
