Shafaqna English– In a statement made on Saturday(29 Aug 2026), Venezuela’s interim president, Delcy Rodriguez, announced that the recently signed energy pact with the United States is set to extend over a quarter-century timeframe, spanning 25 years.
The agreement establishes a clear production goal of ramping up the nation’s crude oil output to 1.5 million barrels each day. Crucially, Rodriguez emphasized that the deal explicitly safeguards Venezuela’s sovereign control and ownership over its natural resource wealth throughout the duration of the accord.
During a televised address delivered late on Saturday night, Rodriguez praised the agreement as a “historic” milestone for Venezuela.
She expressed confidence that the deal would breathe new life into the nation’s struggling economy, significantly increase state income, and play a pivotal role in charting the country’s long-term trajectory and developmental path.
