Shafaqna English– According to two senior U.S. officials who spoke to Reuters on Monday(31 Aug 2026), the American energy firm North American Blue Energy Partners (NABEP) is set to assume operational control over a number of oil fields in Venezuela that were previously managed and operated by multiple Chinese state-linked enterprises and at least one Russian company.
This marks a significant shift in the control of Venezuela’s key energy infrastructure, moving from Eastern to Western corporate influence.
The two officials further clarified that this operational handover is not an isolated move, but rather an integral component of a comprehensive and large-scale oil production agreement recently announced by President Donald Trump with the Venezuelan government.
The broader deal appears designed to reshape the landscape of Venezuela’s petroleum industry, potentially opening the door for increased U.S. corporate involvement while reducing the foothold of Russian and Chinese state-backed entities in the country’s most valuable natural resource sector.
