Shafaqna English– Boeing has paid a $3.1 million penalty to the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration this year following the agency’s determination that the manufacturer committed extensive safety lapses, including violations connected to the 2024 Alaska Airlines MAX 9 in-flight emergency.
The fine, initially proposed in September 2025, was settled in January but remained undisclosed until now. The FAA had also previously penalized Boeing for compromising the independence of safety oversight personnel and for presenting two non-airworthy planes for certification.
Additionally, a 2024 FAA audit uncovered hundreds of quality control failures at Boeing’s 737 production facility in Renton, Washington, and at the Spirit AeroSystems fuselage plant in Wichita, Kansas, covering a six-month period from late 2023 to early 2024.
