Shafaqna English– The reopening of the only road to Nepal’s Gyirong border crossing represents a major improvement in China’s disaster-relief efforts following catastrophic flooding that destroyed sections of the route.
With the G216 national highway now fully accessible, heavy machinery can enter the main affected zone for the first time, potentially accelerating debris removal, infrastructure repairs and rescue operations. During the period when the highway was impassable, Chinese authorities had to rely on airdrops to deliver vital supplies and equipment, while rescuers faced arduous mountain treks to reach the disaster site.
