Shafaqna English– A food poisoning outbreak linked to Indonesia’s free school meal program has affected over 1,700 people in just three days, including 777 students and teachers in Central Java who fell ill after eating grilled chicken that was reportedly “slimy” before distribution.
In separate incidents, 950 others were sickened in three other regions. President Prabowo Subianto launched the costly initiative last year to improve child nutrition, but the program has faced corruption allegations, leadership changes, and repeated health scares, often caused by improper food storage and delayed deliveries.
