Shafaqna English– At its Sunday(6 Sep 2026) meeting, OPEC+ announced that it would maintain its current oil production policy for October, as the group—comprising the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies—requires further deliberation to establish new quota allocations before determining any subsequent production adjustments.
The gathering, which involved seven core members—Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq, Kuwait, Algeria, Kazakhstan, and Oman—took place against the backdrop of the ongoing Iran war, which continues to severely disrupt crude exports through the strategic Strait of Hormuz, thereby constraining OPEC+’s ability to exert meaningful influence over global prices and its own market share.
Although the coalition had previously approved a production increase for September, effectively completing a phased reversal of the 1.65 million barrels‑per‑day supply cut originally agreed upon in 2023, the group’s actual output remains substantially below its targeted levels due to the persistent conflict, underscoring the war’s disruptive impact on the broader supply landscape.
