Shafaqna English– Human rights organization FairSquare announced on Tuesday that over 100,000 people have signed a complaint calling on FIFA to investigate its president, Gianni Infantino, over alleged ethics code violations linked to his connections with Donald Trump.
The complaint, filed by FairSquare and its “Reboot FIFA” campaign, accuses Infantino of abuses including misuse of power, breaches of political neutrality, and loyalty obligations in efforts to “ingratiate himself with the U.S. President.”
FairSquare’s director said the follow-up complaint was filed after World Cup events, focusing on Trump’s contact with Infantino to review a U.S. player’s red card—which was subsequently overturned—and Infantino’s abandoned proposal to sell a stake in FIFA events to private equity investors.
