Does fasting become void if a person decides to make it void but changes his/her mind before it happens? The Grand Ayatollah Shobairi’s Fatwa

SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Shobairi Zanjani answered a question about deciding to make fasting void.

Question: If a person decides definitely to make his/her fasting void (Batel) but changes his/her mind before making it void; does his/her fasting become void (Batel)?

The Grand Ayatollah Shobairi: Yes, the fasting becomes void; but must avoid acts which make fasting void to the end of fasting for that day; and it is Wajib to compensate for the missed day by fasting later on, but there is no need to pay Kaffarah.
