Shafaqna English– In a ruling with potential implications for how social media platforms handle younger users, a Texas judge found on Thursday that TikTok breached the state’s consumer protection law by misleading users about the way it filtered content for minors and whether its “Restricted Mode” feature protected children from inappropriate material.
Texas filed a lawsuit against TikTok in January 2025, alleging that the company marketed its platform as safe for children, a claim that later became central to the state’s consumer protection case.
