Shafaqna English– According to three trading and industry sources, QatarEnergy is negotiating multi-year contracts for American liquefied natural gas through 2031 with a number of producers, reportedly including Venture Global, Cheniere and Woodside.
The negotiations aim to compensate for capacity lost when Iranian strikes in March hit two of the fourteen liquefaction trains at the Ras Laffan facility and a gas-to-liquids plant, damage expected to require years of repairs.
The move also represents a strategic pivot: rather than continuing spot purchases of dozens of American cargoes to satisfy some Asian clients, the company is now pursuing longer-term solutions, indicating a deeper, more structured effort to close its supply shortfall.
