Shafaqna English- The top UN economic development agency has reported that Gaza is experiencing “the world’s most severe economic crisis on record.”
According to the UN economic development agency, nine out of ten businesses have been destroyed, and hundreds of thousands of people are unemployed.
Pedro Manuel Moreno, acting secretary-general of the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), said the collapse of Gaza’s economy due to Israel’s military offensive had “wiped out decades of development and generated an acute economic crisis for its people”.
A report by the UN agency on Thursday said 92 % of Gaza’s economic establishments have been damaged or destroyed. The daily per capita GDP is $0.58, the report said, while prices have jumped 274 percent since 2022.”
