Shafaqna English- The 33rd International Adana Film Festival in Turkey will honor Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to world cinema.
Farhadi, a two-time Oscar winner for “A Separation” and “The Salesman”, will receive the honor during the festival, where he is also scheduled to take part in a public conversation and a masterclass on his approach to storytelling and filmmaking, from screenwriting to directing.
The filmmaker won the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival for “A Separation” in 2011 and has received major awards at international festivals, including Cannes.
Farhadi’s latest film, “Parallel Tales”, will also make its Turkish premiere at the festival. The 2026 film competed for the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival and stars Isabelle Huppert, Virginie Efira, Vincent Cassel, Pierre Niney and Adam Bessa, alongside Catherine Deneuve.
The film draws inspiration from “A Short Film About Love”, part of Krzysztof Kieślowski’s Dekalog series.
The 33rd International Adana Film Festival began on Sept. 26 and runs through Oct. 4, featuring 210 films in its program.
