Shafaqna English- South Korean cosmetics companies are expanding into the halal beauty market as demand grows among Muslim consumers worldwide, according to Korea JoongAng Daily.
Halal certification requires strict controls over ingredients, manufacturing, packaging and distribution. Some cosmetics ingredients, such as snail mucin, are prohibited, while companies must also prevent contamination during production and transport.
The global halal cosmetics market grew from $26.8 billion in 2020 to $53.1 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach $152 billion by 2035, according to Future Market Insights.
About 40 Korean cosmetics companies have received halal certification. Pion-Tech secured $3 million in orders within two months of certification, while Cosmax and Kolmar Korea have also reported strong growth in halal cosmetics.
Young Muslim consumers are a major source of demand, with eye creams and other eye-focused products particularly popular. E-commerce is also helping Korean halal cosmetics reach consumers in international markets.
Industry experts say companies must adapt their strategies to different halal standards, regulations and consumer preferences across individual markets.
