Shafaqna English- The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that a large quantity of medical supplies destined for Gaza is delayed for an average of 74 days while awaiting clearance from Israeli authorities. The WHO is urging for “unimpeded and predictable” access to ensure that much-needed aid reaches those in need.
“Not one hospital in Gaza is fully operational,” stated Reinhilde Van de Weerdt, WHO representative in the occupied Palestinian territory, during a press conference in Geneva.
Van de Weerdt emphasized that chronic shortages of medicines and medical supplies continue to severely hinder the restoration of health services, even a year after a ceasefire was declared. “Without these essential items, no hospital will ever be fully or even partially operational,” she added.
