Shafaqna English– A top US official told Reuters that the joint US-Ukrainian reconstruction investment fund has closed its first critical minerals agreement. The fund also sealed four additional new projects at the same time. Together, these deals signal the fund’s transition from planning to active investment.
The fund emerged from a minerals agreement signed by the two nations in April last year. The pact was driven by a push from Donald Trump. Its mandate covers five strategic areas, ranging from minerals and defense to energy and infrastructure.
The fund’s first minerals deal signals a new phase in US-Ukrainian economic cooperation. It reflects broader efforts to secure critical resources and rebuild Ukraine’s economy. The five strategic sectors suggest a long-term, multi-dimensional approach.
